Foreign nationals can use this service to extend a temporary or permanent residence or change a visa category.
Who can apply
Foreign nationals who have been granted status.
What you need
- Your foreign passport – it must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the requested extension period.
- 2 current, color, passport photos, on a plain light background, sized 3.5cm x 4.5cm.
Photos that are low quality, or taken in uniform of printed on a home printer will not be accepted.
- Documents from a local authority proving that Israel is your main place of living, that include your name – examples:
- Home purchase contract or rental contract.
- Utility bills in your name for your residence: Electricity, water, council tax, etc.
- Evidence of employment or pay slips.
- Bank statements and status.
- Confirmation of registration to a Kupat Holim (health clinic) including the registration date.
- Confirmation from the local authority (council/municipality) of residence in their jurisdiction.
- If you have children, you must bring for each child:
- Confirmation of registration to schools/kindergarten
- School certificates.
- Education institute confirmation.
- Vaccination booklets

- You can pay with your credit card at the authority office, or someone else's credit card if they are with you in person.

How to apply
- Download, print and fill in the Application for the extension of permit of residence/change of visa category form.
- Submit the application in person, together with the required documents, at you local Population and Immigration Authority office.
