Waive the right to renounce Israeli citizenship
New immigrants and foreign residents who are over 18 can waive the right to renounce Israeli citizenship. You can include your children in your application, but will need their other parent's consent.
You can waive the right to declare unwillingness to be an Israeli citizen if you’re over 18 and:
- you’re a foreign resident
or - you made Aliyah or registered as an Oleh less than 3 months ago
How to apply
Apply in person at a Population and Immigration Authority office
You’ll need:
- the completed waiver notice
- your ID card or travel document you used to enter Israel
- a letter of explanation
Including children in your waiver
If you want to waive the right to renounce Israeli citizenship for your children as well, you’ll need:
- their other parent’s consent given in person or by letter of consent witnessed and signed by a lawyer
or - an original court decision or court approved divorce agreement stating that you have sole custody, or the right to make declarations for your child without the other parent’s consent
