Give up (renounce) Israeli citizenship in order to keep your foreign citizenship
Israeli citizen’s by right of return, who hold or who have been promised citizenship from another country, and are Israeli residents, can use this service to give up their Israeli citizenship in order to keep the foreign citizenship.
Who can apply
You can apply if:
- you’re an Israeli citizen by right of return
- you’re an Israeli resident
- keeping your Israeli citizenship will mean you lose the right to be a citizen of another country
You won’t lose the right to be an Israeli resident.
You’ll need:
- your Israeli ID
- your Israeli passport, or a certificate of Israeli citizenship and any other documentation proving that you’re an Israeli citizen
- a letter of explaining why you want to give up your Israeli citizenship
- supporting evidence
- a foreign passport or documentation proving that you have been promised citizenship of the other country

How to apply
- Download, print and complete the Application to renounce Israeli citizenship in order to keep foreign citizenship (Heb)
- Apply in person at:
- a Population and Immigration Authority office
- or an Israeli mission in your country of residence
