Apply for status for spouses of Israeli citizens after the end of the spousal relationship due to domestic violence
Spouses of Israeli citizens who are no longer in a spousal relationship due to domestic violence, can use this service to apply for status.
Who can apply
- Spouses of Israeli citizens whose spousal relationship has ended as a result of domestic violence
- Foreign nationals, registered in the population registry, who received an A/5 residence permit under the graduated procedure, for at least one year, or if there are no mutual children, for at least 2 years
- Women who spent ataleast a month in a women's shelter (refuge)
- Foreign nationals who received a protection order against the Israeli spouse from a family court after a hearing in the presence of both parties
- Foreign nationals who filed a complaint with the police against an Israeli spouse for violence, and on investigation, the complaint was found to be justified.
- Foreign nationals who have proved that they are the legal guardian of the mutual children, or that they maintain close and constant contact with them and are responsible for their wellbeing, and a professional opinion from a welfare official has determined that their departure would significantly harm the children.
What you need
- Confirmation from the Department of Social Services in the local government, or the Center for the Treatment and Prevention of Domestic Violence in the Ministry of Welfare, that the you are known to them and that your case is being handled by them due to domestic violence from your Israeli spouse
- Confirmation that you have filed a complaint with the police that has been found to be justified
- Any applications for a visa may require additional documents depending on the circumstances.

How to apply
Apply in person, together with the required documents, at your local Population and Immigration Authority offices.
Notes
- If the spousal relationship ended as a result of domestic violence by the Israeli spouse, and the graduated process was terminated on divorce or separation, the application for status will be transferred to an inter-ministerial committee, to decide on granting status on the basis of humanitarian reasons.
- If there are no mutual children, the strength of the applicant's connection to Israel, and whether it is felt to be stronger than the applicants connection to a foreign country, and the place of residence of first-degree relatives, will be examined.
