Apply for status for elderly parents of Israeli citizens living abroad without family
Israeli citizens can use this service to apply for status for their parents, who are interested in moving to Israel, if their parents are elderly and have no family abroad.
Who can apply
- Israeli citizens can use this service to apply for status for their parents, who are interested in moving to Israel, if their parents are elderly and have no family abroad.
- You must be an Israeli citizen to apply.
- You can apply on behalf of your mother who is over 65 years of age, or father who is over 67 years of age only if they don't have any other child living abroad.
- If the parent has been living in Israel illegally for more than 6 months, the application will be denied.
What you need
- A written declaration including where your parent intends to live and who is responsible for their needs.
- A written declaration of commitment, stating that you are capable of caring for your parent's needs.
- Your parent's passport, valid for at least six months beyond the validity of the requested permit.
- A Letter of Good Standing (police background check) for your parent, from their country of origin.
- Official documents attesting to your parent's current and previous marital status
- Certificates attesting to the family connection between the you and your parent.
- A written declaration that your parent does not have additional children living outside Israel (this will be signed by your parent in the presence of a Population and Immigration Authority clerk).
- A letter of explanation specifying: where your parent has lived and worked, who were their friends, where and with whom they celebrated Holidays, the nature of the relationship with the inviting children and why they are interested in receiving status in Israel.
- If your parent changed their first or last name, official documentation must be submitted.
- If your parent is a citizen of one of the CIS countries, they must contact the Liaison Bureau and obtain their recommendation.
- If your parent currently lives abroad, they must also apply for an Israel Entry Permit (A1).
Translating and authenticating documents
- All documents other than documents in Hebrew, Arabic and English, must be translated by a notary to Hebrew.
- All official documents must be originals or certified copy officially authenticated:
- If the certificate was issued by a government body or other official body in countries who are members of The Hague convention it must have an apostille stamp.
- For certificates without an apostille stamp, contact your nearest Israeli in the country where the certificate was issued for instructions.

- Download, print and fill in the Visa application form
- Submit the application together with the required documents at your local Population and Immigration Authority Office.
