Report of a change in the driver's vision
This service makes it possible to report an improvement or deterioration in the driver's vision.
Who can submit an application
- Drivers who have undergone vision correction surgery can contact the licensing authority and ask that the restriction on their driver's license that requires them to wear glasses while driving be removed.
- Drivers whose eyesight has worsened must contact the licensing authority and inform them of the change in eyesight.
Before submitting the application
- Go to a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist and to undergo a new eye testThe optometrist will only complete the part of the eye test based on the type of license:
- Payment must be made for the vision test.for a reissuing of the updated driver’s license (plastic) payment of NIS 22 must be made.
How to submit an application
- Online - complete a report of a change in the driver's vision, attach the vision test form and send it online.
- Israel Post - send the vision test form to the Information and Control Department in the Licensing Division: POB 270 Holon Zip Code 5810201. Keep a copy of the form.
What happens next
The application will be reviewed by the Licensing Authority and once the restriction has been removed or added, an update will be sent by e-mail upon completion of the processing and an updated driver's license will be issued that will be mailed to the updated address at the Population Authority.
Simultaneous to the update of the Ministry of Transport systems, the enforcement systems are automatically updated regarding the removal or addition of the restriction.
According to Regulation 9 of the Transportation Regulations, one can drive in Israel without carrying a driver’s license and vehicle license when driving.
It is, however, mandatory to carry an official ID of the State of Israel (ID card or passport), an insurance certificate and appendices to the driver's license.
