Register your children who were born abroad
Israeli citizens can use this service to register the birth of their children, that were born outside of Israel, in the population registry, and include them on their ID appendices.
Who can apply
Israeli citizens who are parents of children who are under 18 who were born abroad.
What you need
- Your ID card.
- Your spouses ID card or foreign passport (if applicable).
- Your child's foreign passport or the parent's passport in which your child is registered.
- Notification of birth form from an Israeli mission (if available).
- Your child's original, authenticated birth certificate:
- Your child's birth certificate must be authenticated in one of the following ways:
- With an apostille stamp from the country where the document was issued.
- If the document was issued in a state that has not signed the Apostille Treaty, contact an Israeli mission in the country where the birth certificate was issued for instructions.
- If your child's birth certificate is not in Hebrew, it must be translated and notarized (except for Arabic).
- Proof of parenthood.
Proof of parenthood
When applying for citizenship based on the mother's Israeli citizenship, you must submit proof that the mother registered on the birth certificate is the mother of the child. This should include:
- A birth report from the institution where the child was delivered (hospital, clinic, etc.) stating the mother and child's details.
- Documentation of antenatal (pre-pregnancy) checks and tests.
When applying for citizenship based on the father's citizenship, you must also submit evidence of the relationship between the child's father and mother before the child's birth. This can include:
- A joint bank account statement.
- A shared apartment rent contract.
- Photos etc.
If you cannot provide proof of parenthood, you will need to submit an Israeli court ruling that the parent who is an Israeli citizen is the child's parent.
How to apply
You must make the application in person at any Population and Immigration Authority office in Israel or Israeli mission abroad.
- If your child is under 18 years old they do not need to accompany you when applying.
- If you are interested in issuing an ID or, passport or travel document, your child must accompany you.
This service does not require scheduling an appointment with the Population and Immigration offices.
