Common law partners can use this service to request to be recognized as mariied by common-law to determine National Insurance status and rights.
Recognition as married by common-law may affect your National Insurance and Health Insurance payments and your eligibility for National Insurance benefits.
Who can apply
Couples who live together and share financial responsibilities as a family unit.
Supporting documents
- Confirmation of mutual property.
- A financial agreement or will.
- Evidence of housekeeping expenses for your home.
- Evidence appearing together as a couple in public.
- Evidence of receiving benefits from a public body.
- Evidence of legal processes being conducted in court.
- Written affidavits from persons testifying that the couple shares a joint household.
The service is free of charge.
How to apply
- Download and print the Detailed questionnaire for common law spouses form.
- Fill in the form and attach the required documents.
- Send the application by post to your local National Insurance Institute office.
Note
- If you have been recognized as married by common-law, and your status has changes, you are required to declare change of status at your local National Insurance Institute office.
- This service and forms are provided in Hebrew. If you don't speak Hebrew, seeking assistance from a Hebrew speaker is recommended.
