Register a change in marital status at an Israeli mission abroad
Israeli citizens and residents can use this service to register a change in marital status after marriage, divorce or the death of a spouse, at an Israeli mission abroad.

What you need
You'll need:
- Your ID card or passport
- In the case of marriage or the death of a spouse - your spouse's ID card or Israeli passport
- One of the following, depending on the circumstance:
- Marriage certificate
- Divorce certificate
- Death certificate
- If your certificate was not issued in Israel, it must have an apostille stamp (in countries where this is available)
- If the certificate is not in Hebrew, English or Arabic, it must be translated and notarized
If your marriage certificate does not state your previous marital status, you'll also need a duly authenticated certificate that states your previous marital status. It must have an apostille stamp (in countries where this is available)
The service is free of charge.
How to apply
- When registering a marriage:
- If both partners are Israeli citizens, both must apply in person.
- If one partner is an Israeli citizen and the other is not, the Israeli citizen must apply in person
- When registering a divorce:
- If both partners are Israeli citizens, both must apply in person
- If one partner is an Israeli citizen and the other is not, the Israeli citizen must apply in person
To apply:
- Print and complete the Change of marital status form
- Submit it in person at your local Israeli mission

The form for this service is in Hebrew. If you don’t speak Hebrew seeking assistance from a Hebrew speaker is recommended.
