Application to the Food Laboratory at the National Public Health Laboratory, Tel Aviv
This service provides information on delivering samples to the Food Laboratory for various testing.
What is the Food Laboratory?
- The Food Laboratory conducts chemical and microbiological tests on all types of foods and food additives. It serves as an analytical arm of the regulatory authority overseeing the manufacturing, import, and marketing of all food products and additives in Israel.
Laboratory tests are conducted in accordance with Israeli or international regulations. In the absence of specific certifications, other accepted methods are employed. - The Laboratory works in close collaboration with the National Food Services, food supervisors at the regional health bureaus, port quarantine stations, and the Nutrition Division at the Ministry of Health.
The laboratory receives samples primarily from the Ministry of Health’s units and other government agencies. In certain cases, it also receives samples from private clients, with the approval of the laboratory management.
Who can transport food samples?
- Food Services inspectors.
- Environmental health inspectors.
- Nutrition Division.
- Other government agencies.
- Private clients.
What should be attached to the sample?
- For each sample, a sampling form must be attached.
- For clients other than Ministry of Health inspectors, a "Food Sample Accompanying Form" (Hebrew) must be attached.
Payment options

Payment can be made in one of the following ways:

How to deliver the samples?
- The laboratory does not conduct sampling or transport services.
- Transfer the samples, including the additional documents, to the central unit of samples at the National Public Health Laboratory:

- Sample reception hours: Sunday through Thursday, 7:45 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
How to file a complaint about a food product?
- Anyone may file a complaint about a food product.
- Complaints should be filed with the regional health bureau (Hebrew).
- Do not contact the laboratory directly to file a complaint about a food product.
