Who needs to take the correctional driving refresher course?
You need to take the course if you have received a summons. You will receive a summons if:
- You have accumulated the necessary driving offence points.
- You have had your Israeli driving licence for 5 years.
What happens if you don’t take the correctional driving course when summoned?
If you have received a summons to take the course you must go. If you don’t take the course within 6 months of receiving the summons, the Licensing Bureau can freeze your licence and you won’t be allowed to drive. Driving without a valid licence is illegal.
Can you postpone the course?
You can postpone the course for any of the following reasons:
- Military service.
- You are abroad.
- Hospitalization.
- Overseas studies.
- You are in prison.
To postpone the course, send a detailed letter stating the reasons, and supporting documents to: Licensing Bureau, National Information Center, POB 6, Holon.
About the course and driving offence points
- The course lasts 12 academic hours.
- At the end of the course you will have to take a test.
- If you have been summoned to take the course after accumulating driving offence points, they will not be erased after taking the course. If you have accumulated up to 22 points, they will be erased after 2 years. If you have accumulated over 22 points they will be erased after 4 years. Corrective measures are set according to the number of points.
- If you don’t take the correctional driving refresher course, or other required correctional measures, your points won't be erased.
- If you receive additional driving offence points, they will be added to your existing points, and additional corrective measures may be required.
What you need for the course
When you go to the course, bring with you:
- Your ID.
- Your driving licence.
- Your summons to the course.
Course cost
The course costs 195 NIS (including VAT). IN Eilat it costs 167 NIS. Payment is made directly to the school where you are taking the course.
