Planning, Policies and Strategies Division

About

The Planning and Policy Division works toward assimilating the concept of sustainability, with an emphasis on environmental considerations among decision-makers at the national level and in the national, regional and local planning and building system.

Alongside that, the Division is in charge of preventing exposure to ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, noise and all the regulatory activities by virtue of the laws that regulate these matters.

The Division's tasks

The Division's tasks are diverse and include leading broad and strategic plans in the government and MoEP, including the following:

• Preparing situation assessments
• Integrating and concentrating the ministerial work plan and supervising it
• Conducting regulation improvement processes and assessing its effects on new regulation
• Long-term policy for the Dead Sea
• Promoting environmental technology
• Calculating external environmental costs
• Providing radiation-related permits and licenses 
• Reducing noise in cities
• Representation in the national planning institutions and the Israel Land Council
• Representing Israel's environmental policy in international forums
• Promoting and conducting agreements for international cooperations
• Operating the governmental company for protecting the Mediterranean Sea's coast cliffs - the Ministry's executioner
