Registration and Licensing of Engineers and Architects Department

The Registration and Licensing of Engineers and Architects Department is the professional and administrative body, through which the Registrar of Engineers and Architects and the Council of Engineering and Architecture operate according to  the Engineers and Architects Law, 5718 - 1958.
 The Department is responsible for the administrative and organizational handling of all the powers of the Minister of Labor, the engineers and architects and the Council of Engineering and Architecture, which are anchored in the said law and its regulations, which are mainly:

• Registration of engineers and architects in the register of engineers and architects - handling requests for registration of institutions in Israel and abroad, with approval or rejection by the registrar.
• Licensing (advanced and senior certification stage) of registered engineers and architects after a period required by law to process applications for licensing, with approval or rejection by the registrar.
• Issuance of registration/licensing certificates, renewal of validity.
• Reception of the public and providing information in writing and orally about the registration procedures.
• Opening sections and branches in the register of engineers and architects, making any changes in them and publishing them, and criteria for classification recorded in important sections and branches according to their studies.
• Administrative and organizational assistance to the Engineering and Architecture Council and its various committees.
• Administrative handling in the area of the registrar's powers to recognize engineering courses from colleges in Israel and higher education institutions in Israel and abroad.
• Coordination of joint activity interfaces with the Council for Higher Education, academic institutions, government and organizations of engineers and architects.
• Providing an administrative and logistical infrastructure for the Ethics Committee for Engineers and Architects operated according to the above.
• Works for the implementation of the "Authorized for Permit" law, the Accessibility Law and the implementation of the State Investigation Committee's report on the safety of buildings and places used by the public (the Zeiler report) as well as the training of certified accessibility experts.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out licensing exams for engineers and architects.
• Examination of programs for professional training, while coordinating them with the Council for Higher Education.
