Cancellation of a Vehicle Registration

• Vehicle deregistration is completed after authenticating through the National Identification System. This system provides a personalized service following a brief, one-time registration, while ensuring maximum security to protect against fraud and identity theft.

Granting Authorization to a Third Party
You can securely authorize another person to deregister a vehicle on your behalf and view your information directly through the Personal Government Area digitally.

At any stage, you can view, edit, or revoke the permissions you have granted.

1. Log in to the Government Business Area ("אזור עסקי ממשלתי") and click on "Actions and Services".
2. Click on the "Vehicle Deregistration" button.
3. Manually enter the license plate number of the vehicle you wish to deregister.
4. Confirm the declaration and approve the vehicle deregistration, then type: "Driving is prohibited after deregistration".

Obtaining Confirmation of Deregistration
You can obtain confirmation that the vehicle has been deregistered as follows:

1. Go to "Vehicles".
2. Perform a "Vehicle Search".
3. Select "Vehicle Details Form".

To submit the request in person, you must book an appointment in advance and visit a Licensing Office with the following documents:

• ID Card (Teudat Zehut) of the vehicle owner.
• Vehicle License.
• Bank Account Confirmation / Voided Check (to process any eligible fee refunds).

Submitting via a Proxy (Representative):
When the request is submitted by a representative, you must present:

• A fully completed and signed Power of Attorney form signed by the vehicle owner(s).
• The original ID cards of both the vehicle owner(s) and the representative.
• You may use the standard [Power of Attorney Form].

• Taxis
• Vehicles intended for permanent export abroad
• Vehicles owned by more than two joint owners

• Deregistration Deadline: Vehicle deregistration is only permitted if no more than 30 days have passed since the expiration date of the vehicle license.
• Permanent Status: Once a vehicle's registration has been cancelled, its license cannot be renewed.
• License Plates:
• The vehicle owner must remove the license plates and ensure their destruction.
• Registration Fee Refund: If the vehicle license is still valid at the time of deregistration, you can submit a request for a license fee refund to receive a proportional refund from the date of deregistration until the license expiration date.

Service Fee: This service is provided free of charge.

• In the Personal Government Area: Online deregistration can only be processed under the status of "Vehicle Scrapping".
• At the Licensing Office: To restore the vehicle, you must submit an affidavit signed by an attorney declaring that the vehicle is in good working order and complete with all its parts. This must be submitted within one month from the date of deregistration.
• Applications Submitted After One Month: If the request is submitted more than one month after the deregistration request, you must also attach an inspection and fitness certificate from an authorized garage.
• License Fee Adjustment: If a refund was received following the vehicle’s deregistration, you must pay the proportional registration fee from the date the vehicle is restored to service until the license expiration date.
