Request to Transfer Rape Kit

Hospitals throughout the country have rape kits that were collected over the years in the emergency rooms and the acute rooms from victims of sexual violence who chose not to file a complaint, and therefore were not handed over to the police.

These kits contain evidence for a legal  proceeding, the kits must be kept under certain conditions so that they can be used for investigation and trial, in case victims of sexual decide to file a complaint.

Hospitals began operating according to the legislation on July 1, 2022, therefore samples taken before that date will remain in the possession of the hospital and will be kept under the conditions that have been maintained until now for 50 years, unless the hospital receives a request to be transferred to a logistics center from the victims.

Who Can Submit the Application

If you visited the hospital (emergency room or acute center) for sexual assault before July 1, 2022, and evidence was taken from you using a rape kit, you have the right by law to request that the kit be transferred to optimal custody at the police logistics center in order to ensure the possibility of opening a legal proceeding in the future.

How to Submit the Application

• You must fill out the application form for the transfer of rape kits to the logistics center of the Israeli Police and enter your personal details:
  • Full name
  • ID number
  • Contact methods ( phone number, e-mail)
  • Date (if you remember)
  • Where is the kit (in which hospital)
• After filling out the form, the transfer of the kit to the police logistics center, must be approved.
