Specialist Care for Rare Medical Conditions
This service offers details on all-inclusive medical services created especially to treat a rare disease or condition that has been found in Israel in a small number of individuals exhibiting particular characteristics and symptoms.
Specialist medical services are comprehensive medical services that are specifically suited for treating a rare disease.
- A disease or condition with specific characteristics and symptoms.
- An uncommon disease (very few patients in Israel).
- A condition that requires specialist experience and skill to treat, such as specialized medical personnel training or infrastructure.
Anyone who has a rare disease for which there is a specialist medical service can have the disease treated within this service.
The HMO can provide the treatment to patients who require it in other settings too, on the condition that the possibility to receive the treatment with a specialist medical service has been presented to them.
- Specialist medical service is provided in centers in which there is a multidisciplinary team, skilled and very experienced in providing the service required for patients who have the specific disease.
The center is also a source of relevant knowledge in the relevant field for patients, their families and medical staffs.
