Obtaining an International Driving License
This service provides information on obtaining an international driving license.
When must you obtain an international driving license
- Prior to traveling abroad, Israeli driving license holders must obtain an international driving license. It is not possible to drive in foreign countries with only an Israeli driving license.
- The international driving license remains valid for three years or until the expiry of the Israeli driving license.
Companies authorized to photograph and administer an eyesight test: Femi Premium and Issta, through the photography stations.
An international driving license enables you to drive in foreign countries according to the driving license class, provided it is accompanied by the valid permanent plastic Israeli driving license, according to the Vienna Convention (Appendix 7).
As a rule, the countries that are signatories to the Convention accept the international license, however we recommend that before departure you check whether the destination country recognizes the license and permits car rental, without any further requirements or restrictions.
What you must bring to the photography station
- Driving license (valid)

- ID card or passport and temporary driving license, in order to issue a license at the photography station.
Please note, an international driver's license cannot be issued through a proxy.
Payment
- A NIS 11.00 fee (NIS 9.40 in Eilat, VAT-exempt) is required for issuing an international driving license, payable at the photography station.
- To replace the photograph in the driving license, a fee of NIS 11.00 is required (NIS 9.40 in Eilat, VAT-exempt).
- The fee for the eyesight test must be paid at the photography station.
Receiving the driving license
The license will be printed on the spot and handed to the applicant.
