Power of Attorney for customs agents (personal import)
This service enables you to fill in an authorization letter (power of attorney) for customs agents, so that they can carry out actions on your behalf, such as clearing products for customs.
Who can fill in a power of attorney
Anyone importing goods for their own use.
When is an authorization letter (power of attorney) needed
An authorization letter is requested for anyone importing products for personal use valued at over $1,000 and who wish to clear them through customs agents.
When is there no need for an authorization letter
Anyone entitled to customs duty exemption (e.g., new immigrants or returning residents) can import without a computerized letter of authorization, but must fill out a manual form instead, except when importing a vehicle.

How to fill in the authorization letter
Fill in the Authorization letter (power of attorney) customs form 165 online, add the requested documents and send them.
