Apply for partial funding of scholarships for scientists or research students who are new immigrants or returning residents
Universities can use this service to apply to the Ministry of Aliyah and Integration to participate in funding scholarships for research students in science fields who are immigrants or returning residents.
The Ministry of Aliyah and Integration's Center for Integration in Science assists universities by participating in funding scholarships for new immigrants or returning residents who are accepted to doctorate research programs at recognized universities in Israel.
The ministry participates in scholarships granted to new immigrants or returning residents who:
- Are new immigrants within the first two years of immigration or are returning residents (who lived abroad for at least two years) within the first year of return.
- Are up to 37 years of age, who have been accepted for doctorate studies at a recognized Israeli university.
- Have received new immigrant or returning citizen status.
- Have been recognized as scientists.
New immigrants who are eligible for an Absorption Basket during the first six months after immigration are not eligible for a scholarship during that time.
Doctorate tracks
- Doctorate candidates who are required to take supplementary courses before they are accepted to the research students’ track, can receive the assistance in one of the following tracks:
- Pre-doctorate track
- The first year as a researcher on a research team
- The second and third years on a doctorate scholarship. This track enables immigrants in their first year in Israel to find an advisor and begin taking supplementary courses as needed for the G.R.E. exams, in addition to their work as immigrant scientists with master’s degrees.
- Doctorate track — Three years on a scholarship as a research student.
Scholarships are granted for a period of three years in either the pre-doctorate track or the doctorate track:
- Pre-doctorate track - One year pre-doctorate and 2 years doctorate.
- Doctorate track – 3 years doctorate.
