File a complaint to the Government Freedom of Information Unit
Use this service to file a complaint regarding the implementation of the Freedom of Information Law in government ministries and their subsidiary units.
The Government Freedom of Information Unit has the authority to investigate complaints about government ministries and their subsidiary units regarding:
- failure to publish annual reports and treports about the implementation of the Freedom of Information Act
- failure to publish information initiated by virtue of the law - administrative guidelines and environmental information – without a lawful explanation
- failure to respond to a request for information within the time frame or date set by law
- rejection of a request for information without a lawful explanation
- the manner in which fees are calculated, except fee exemptions
Attach:
- a copy of your request for information
- any previous correspondence relating to the application
- After your complaint is received together with all the required documents, it will be forwarded to the ministry or unit which is the subject of the complaint.
- The ministry or unit must then respond to the complaint. If they don’t respond, the Freedom of Information Unit will send them a draft decision to respond to the complainant, or correct the issues.
- After receiving the relevant ministry or unit’s response, or is they don’t respond the Freedom of Information Unit will decide if the complaint is justified.
- If the complaint is justified, the Freedom of Information Unit will instruct the ministry or unit in writing to correct the defect.
- You'll be notified of the various stages and of the final decision
- Complaints are handled over several months
