Apply for communication pay for adults with hearing loss
If you're over 18 and below pension age and have hearing loss, you can apply for communication pay to help with it's costs. If you’re eligible, you’ll get a fixed monthly payment.
Who can get communication pay
You can get communication pay if you meet all the following conditions:
- you have hearing loss of at least 70 decibels in your good ear
- the hearing loss began before you were 3
- you’re over 18
- you were under pension age on 15 August 2002. Pension age is 62 for women and 67 for men
- you’re an Israeli citizen
How do you get the communication pay
If you’re eligible, you’ll get a fixed monthly sum paid directly into your bank account.
What you’ll need
Attach to your application:
- an ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) doctor’s report
- a speech and language therapist report (communication clinician)
- results of a recent hearing test
The service is free of charge
How to apply
- Contact your local Department of Social Services
- Complete the application for communication support together with a Department of Social Services social worker
What happens next
- After you complete the application with the social worker, they’ll submit it with your documents to The Ministry of Welfare and Social Affairs
- Your application will be reviewed by the Personal Services Unit for the Hearing Impaired, in the Assessment, Recognition and Disability Administration Division
- They’ll send their decision to the social worker, who’ll update you. You can also check for updates on your mygov personal account
- If you’re eligible for communication pay, you’ll get a fixed monthly sum paid directly into your bank account
