Application for Cannabis Research (Form 108-1)

Israel is one of the leading countries in the field of research and development of cannabis and many studies are currently conducted here in various fields.

Any operation regarding the cannabis plant and its products, including research, must be done in compliance with the provisions of any applicable law and after obtainment of an appropriate license according to the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. That is why researchers who wish to conduct cannabis research are required to obtain a license from the Medical Cannabis Unit.

The licensing process and the submission of the required documents for the various types of research are detailed in the circular of the Medical Cannabis Unit, number 108: Guidelines for submitting applications for research licensing and approval of new forms of administration in the field of cannabis (Hebrew).

Who can submit the application?

Researchers, entrepreneurs, and entities interested in submitting a cannabis research proposal.

What should be attached to the application?

• Research protocol and protocol summary in Hebrew.
• Registrar of Companies printout detailing the managers, authorized signatories and company owners.
• Company Incorporation Certificate.
• Verified affidavit of the interested parties and shareholders, who hold more than 5% of the total company shares and their registration or identification numbers.
• Curriculum vitae of the principal researcher.

How to submit the application?

• The form must be filled out online (printed, not handwritten):
  • It is mandatory to fill all the fields in the form.
  • I.D. numbers must be filled with 9 digits, including a check digit.
• Then, scan the complete file, attach the required documents and send by e-mail to the address: [email protected]

This form is phrased for the masculine gender but refers to both genders alike.
