About
This new division was established in the Ministry of Economy following a government ruling regarding the cost of living in Israel.
Roles and responsibilities:
1. Monitoring maximum prices in Israel.
2. Handling public complaints regarding expropriation of maximum prices.
3. Submitting investigation/audit files to the legal department for processing and expert opinions.
4. Monitoring and tracking store chains and delicatessens since quota permits for cheese products were granted to importers and they became obligated by law to sell cheeses at discount prices.
5. Dangerous toys – the Inter-Ministerial Committee for Dangerous Toys was appointed by the director general of the ministry. Its responsibilities include:
a. Publicity, advertising and training for the general public in conjunction with the Ministry of Education, including publishing information in the press and in broadcasted media, including online, about the danger and risk of physical harm presented by use of dangerous toys.
b. Monitoring in conjunction with the Israel Police in order to eliminate use of dangerous toys (particularly various types of fireworks), and enhancing its activities before the Purim, Ramadan, Independence Day and Christmas holidays.
c. Handling complaints related to dangerous toys.
6. Monitoring businesses to authenticate gold, in conjunction with the Standards Institution of Israel.
