The Government Program for the Absorption of Immigrants From Ethiopia Into Israeli Society
About
On October 29, 2015, a government decision was approved on the topic of promoting the integration of immigrants from Ethiopia in Israel.
A government decision obligates the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Welfare and Social Services, and Ministry of Health, to execute a four-year plan. From this plan were derived tasks formulated by the headquarters of the ministries, in a process that lasted about two years and was done with the participation of many representatives of the Ethiopian community.
The approved plans constitute the first stage of a comprehensive plan covering activities in 12 ministries.
The plans reflect a fundamental change in the governmental policy. This change relies on the vast knowledge collected in the last two years from citizens, professionals and organizations dealing with the issue. During the process, milestones (HE) were drawn up, which the government approved at the meeting of the Committee of Ministries on July 8, 2015. The ministries are obliged to act according to these milestones.
On the basis of the milestones, the ministries presented detailed plans they formulated, and presented them to the public for a round of comments in an open meeting and online.
