Pupils’ admission and accommodation in boarding schools
About
The admission, assessment and accommodation department is one of the Administration's main offices in charge of Rural Residential education and Youth Aliyah, and is the entry gate to the Administration's boarding schools. The department is responsible for referring pupils to boarding schools throughout the country. Admission to boarding schools is handled by social workers from the admission department, who are responsible for identifying the target population, assessing the candidates' need to be integrated into the administration's educational frameworks, and, based on the students' needs, strengths, skills, wishes and academic results, determine the appropriate educational framework. The aim is to provide pupils with a pedagogical environment in which they can develop and reach their full potential.
The department features three tracks:
- Pupils’ applications to the admission department according to their geographical area.
- Pupils’ applications to youth villages, yeshivot and ulpanot.
- Assessment and placement of pupils who have been excluded from schools, who have dropped out or who wish to continue their studies via Youth Aliyah but in a different boarding school.
Pupils aged 12 to 17 (graduates of grades 6 to 11) who wish to attend a boarding school in one of the following educational settings apply to the Administration: secular and religious youth villages; maritime schools; yeshivot and ulpanot; boarding schools for gifted pupils; therapeutically-oriented boarding schools. The admission department covers four areas divided geographically: the Haifa region, the Tel Aviv region, the Jerusalem region and the Beer Sheva region. The department is a central professional counseling address for both pupils and professional members of the community.
