Licensing Branch
About
The Licensing Branch is in charge of licensing activities, and serves as a curator of engineering knowledge and an adviser to the Minister of Communications and the Ministry’s management in licensing and engineering aspects of regulation.
The Branch has a lead role in issuing and correcting general and special licenses, and is in charge of providing type approvals for wired terminal equipment, instructing operators on connections to other networks, as well as issuing numbering and allocating it to operators and services, looking into engineering alternatives and issuing licenses for technological tests.
The Branch coordinates inter-branch work teams such as: preliminary decision team (as per the preliminary decision procedure), licensing committee and licensing team for handling special-license applications, work team for general licensing issues, team for resolving disputes between operators, numbering allocation team, and work teams for engineering and technologies issues.
