Senior Department of Business Licensing

The Industry and Business Licensing Department operates under the authority of the Business Licensing Law (1968), and is focused on regulating businesses from an environmental perspective.

Roles of the department:

• Determine environmental requirements on a business license, using uniform standards and specifications, that relate to different environmental hazards such as air, water and soil pollution, odors, noise, hazardous materials, and more
• Determine regulations and supervisory roles of ministry workers, environmental units, and towns associations.
• Works with the Standards Institution of Israel to issue "green labels" to companies who can be considered "green," either because their products are energy efficient, or they minimized their usage of hazardous materials, or their products can be recycled, etc.

Responsibilities of district offices

• Handle applications for business licenses
• Visit a business in order to determine specific conditions and requirements that will be named in a business license
• Ensure that a business complies with conditions and requirements set in license
