About
The Finance Department manages the execution of the Ministry of Justice budget, which currently stands at approximately NIS 1.7 billion. This budget does not include the Courts Administration, the Rabbinical Courts and the Enforcement and Collection Authority.
- The Ministry of Justice Accountancy is a unit within the Ministry of Justice and is responsible for all financial and accounting activities in the Ministry, including:
- Plan and manage the funding for the implementation of the Ministry of Justice budget, with the aim of providing the maximum financial resources for the Ministry's needs.
- Supervise, control and audit the use of financial resources in the Ministry of Justice.
- Making payments to suppliers, government ministries, authorities and employees.
- Accounting management and reporting of the Ministry's financial activity and the preparation of the financial reports of the Ministry of Justice.
- Management of the Ministry's system of securities.
- Financial management of the Ministry's assets.
- Financial and economic advice to the Ministry.
- Performing an internal audit of the work of the Accountancy by means of financial auditors.
- The Ministry Accountant, the Director of the Finance Department, and his deputies are employees of the Accountant General Division at the Ministry of Finance, and are therefore responsible for implementing the provisions of the Budget Foundations Law, the Annual Budget Law, the Mandatory Tenders Law and its Regulations and the provisions of the TAKAM (Regulation, Finance and Economy Directives published by the Accountant General and including administrative instructions regarding the implementation of the State budget, management and preservation of State assets, handling of contracts and tenders, payment of salaries, etc. The provisions of the TAKAM are published on the Ministry of Finance website).
- The role of the Accountant General and the Division's employees is to ensure that the Ministry's funds and contracts are made while preserving the State's assets, including the fulfillment of efficiency and streamlining orders required by the Government and the Ministry of Finance.
- The Ministry's Accountant ensures that every engagement of the Ministry is done by the authorized persons in accordance with the Ministry's authorization under the State Property Law, 5711 – 1951.
