District Office - North

The northern district of the Ministry of Environmental Protection extends from the Lebanese border in the north to the border of Haifa in the south, while the eastern border is the political border with Syria and to the west is the Mediterranean Sea. The district is characterized by unique natural sites including: running water sources (the Hula Lake, the Sea of Galilee and the northern rivers), nature reserves, and beaches. The main environmental problems that characterize the district are the pollution of water sources, pollution in Acre and Nahariya, the problem of asbestos deposits, the increase in quarrying areas, and the absence of regulated sewage infrastructures. The Ministry of Environmental Protection's district's activities are largely focused on preventing the pollution of water sources, developing waste infrastructures, conserving open spaces, and sustainable development. In addition, the office must deal with affirmative action for communities on the confrontation line, and with building and land solutions for the Arab sector.
