About
The Jerusalem district is a diverse and unique region, both in terms of the view and the environment. In addition to the capital city of Jerusalem, the area includes a wide array of urban, suburban, and rural settlements. In this area, which serves as a main recreation space for residents of the region and of the center of the country, rare values of nature, landscape, culture, history, and ancient agriculture are concentrated, which can be seen as Israel's landscape.
The Jerusalem District includes 17 local authorities; within those aer 136 Israeli localities, 68 within the Green Line. The district's population in nearly one million people, who receive environmental services in the following areas: prevention of water and river pollution, sewage treatment, business licensing in a manner that prevents harm to the environment, prevention of air and noise pollution, solid waste treatment, building planning, transportation systems planning, waste sites, protection of nature reserves, and more.
