Economic Ministries
About
The Economic Ministries Division at the Accountant General’s Department is responsible for managing and implementing the budgets of the economic ministries and provides supervision and controls in accordance with the Budget Foundations Law, the State Assets Law and the Standards, Finance and Economy Ordinances.
The economic ministries and entities the Economic Ministries Division oversee are: the Ministry of Economic and Industry, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Communications, the Employment Service, the Agricultural Research Administration, the Government Bureau of Publications, the Authority for the Development and Settlement of Negev Bedouins, the National Authority for Technological Innovation, and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Duties:
Assistance in solving problems with budget management and other economic issues, from a broad and comprehensive point of view.
Improving the business environment by reducing bureaucracy and streamlining interfaces between the business sector and the government, on behalf of the Accountant General’s Department. This includes leading the project for improving Israel’s rating on the World Bank’s “Doing Business Index”.
The division supervises and controls budget implementation for the economic ministries. This includes implementation of unique agreements such as the Postal Company and Broadcast Authority reform agreements, the Postal Bank service agreements, and implementation supervision of the salt harvesting agreement.
The division is responsible for outlining and implementing economic policy within the framework of relevant ministries. This includes advancing reforms in accordance with government resolutions and collaborating with the ministries.
The division partners and contributes to the decision-making processes that advance growth in the economy and government, within the framework of various committees.
The division supports entities, reforms, and recovery processes and holds membership in the committee for the sale of state shares.
Management of engagements with credit card companies for payments to the government.
Identifies existing market weaknesses and provides solutions, with an emphasis on subjects within the division's purview.
