The ministries are asking the public to refrain from going to beaches from Rosh Hanikra, in the north, down to Zikim Beach in the Hof Ashkelon Coastal Council, until further notice, due to the pollution of the Mediterranean Sea and the beaches from tar.

Tar on a Rosh Hanikra beach
An announcement from the Ministries of Environmental Protection, the Interior, and Health to the general public: Do not go to Mediterranean Sea beaches for swimming, sports, or recreational activities until further notice. The instructions come after dozens of tons of tar began washing ashore on coasts along the Mediterranean, as a result of the stormy weather.
Exposure to tar can be harmful to public health!
The Ministries are continuing to monitor the situation and will update the public regarding this matter.
