In wake of Operation Swords of Iron, there has been a significant worsening of terrorist threats toward Jews and Israelis around the world. Therefore, the National Security Council (NSC) informs the public of the following changes:
- The travel warning to Türkiye has been raised to the highest level – level 4 (high threat) – for all areas of the country. All Israelis in Türkiye are called upon to leave forthwith. The NSC recommends that Israelis who have yet to leave Türkiye take all recommended cautionary measures (detailed on the NSC website) and avoid, as much possible, gatherings and public places, the overt display of Israeli and Jewish indicators, and places identified as Jewish or with an Israeli connection.
- In its analysis of developing threats, the NSC has raised the travel warning for Morocco to level 2 – a recommendation to exercise greater caution.
- The NSC reiterates its recommendations to the public to consider planned trips overseas and avoid non-essential travel to countries with travel warnings, with emphasis on Arab countries and countries bordering Iran (especially Jordan, Egypt, the UAE and Azerbaijan).
- In light of events, there is concern of increased motivation by terrorists and lone assailants to perpetrate attacks against Israelis in various countries (such as that against an Israeli Embassy employee in Beijing on 13 October). The NSC underscores that during the war, there is a potential for threats even in countries without travel warnings and calls for exercising greater caution and showing greater alert.
- It should be noted that travel warnings do not apply to travelers in a given country for purposes of boarding connecting flights, except for the ban on flying over enemy countries (Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Iran and Yemen) and countries with a high threat level (such as Libya, Algeria, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Somalia). While planning an overseas trip, it I recommended to verify that one's flights are not over these countries.
- n light of developments and events, Israelis are liable to find it increasingly difficult to return to Israel due to the reduction in foreign flights to Israel.
