Those returning from abroad who demonstrate the ability to maintain proper home isolation (such as those with an apartment / house of their own or a completely separate housing unit with no other occupants) may be allowed to undergo their 14 day required isolation at home or another suitable location available to them. In addition, those who are already staying in an isolation hotel who demonstrate the ability to home-isolate may complete their isolation at home.
Those returning from abroad who are unable to home-isolate according to regulations will be directed to hotel isolation at the expense of the State.
Those returning from abroad (as well as others required to be isolated due to exposure) will not be allowed to return to home isolation via public transportation with the exception of taxis (in accordance with the regulations of masks / open windows) to prevent potential contamination of public transportation.
Anyone found to violate the regulations by traveling on public transportation will be fined and required to complete the mandatory isolation period in a state-run hotel.
Enforcement will be increased and police will enforce home-isolation to those returning from overseas and also be assisted by the Population and Immigration Authority’s enforcement supervisors.
These regulations are valid until Tuesday, May 19th, 2020.
