Mapping and Geographic Information System

In the field of mapping and geographic information system – determining and producing standards and printed and digital mapping products. The mapping products are required to support the government needs that are required for planning and execution for infrastructural development and construction, lands management, maritime space mapping and sailing safety, security and emergency services, control and supervision, environmental quality, research and development, tourism and more.

The mapping and geographic-information system department consist the following units:

• The Bankal that engages in updating and maintaining the national cadastre database and the national cadastre archive.
• The photogrammetry department and remote sensing that engages in updating, producing and supervising over aerial photography products, orthography, advanced elevation data, an update of the national topographic database, update and maintenance of the national archive for mapping and aerial photographs.
• Geographic information-systems department that engages in defining quality assurance standards and in producing mapping products from the national topographic database.
• Cartography department that engages in promoting and developing topographical maps, city maps, map of Israel and so on.
• Maritime-mapping department that engages in updating and maintaining the maritime database for the purpose of producing maritime maps for navigation and sailing safety.
