Judea and Samaria

The Health Unit implements civilian policy in Judea and Samaria as well as coordination and liaison between the Israeli health system and Palestinian health system and various government ministries in a range of fields. 

The Health Coordinator is entrusted with providing service in regard to all health issues that arise among Palestinian residents of Judea and Samaria and ensures regular contact between the health systems of the Palestinian Authority and the State of Israel as well as with international health organizations.

The Health Coordinator oversees the approval and handling of patient transfers to Israel, the servicing of needs arising in Israeli hospitals, the coordination of transfer and authorization of medical equipment, medicine, and food.

Additionally, the Health Coordinator is responsible for the arrangement of continuing education and training programs for Palestinian medical teams in Israel, the promotion of professional skills, and coordination within the domain of public health, infectious and contagious diseases, etc.

Areas of Responsibility and Services

• Motivated by a fundamental imperative to save lives, the unit's employees maintain daily contact with all of the hospitals in Judea and Samaria and in Israel, as well as with the Palestinian Health Ministry. This continuous contact enables the Health Unit to quickly and effectively handle cases on an individual basis and provide service in real time.
• In conjunction with medical entities in the Palestinian Authority, primarily non-government bodies, the unit approves activities that are urgent, life-saving, and/or contribute to quality of life. In addition, the Health Unit develops creative solutions to pressing issues that arise in the field.
• The unit also cooperates with and provides assistance to hospitals in East Jerusalem, including responding to their unique requirements and demands and granting work licenses and permits to Al-Quds University students for training in these hospitals.
