About
The Macro and Budget Division researches a wide array of data and provides multifaceted, real-time analysis on the implementation of the national budget.
The division supports decision-making on all matters pertaining to the execution of the national budget’s macroeconomic fiscal goals. These goals include: the scope of the deficit, complying with planned expense frameworks and projected revenues, management of government accounts and financing the government deficit. The division develops and operates research methods for evaluating unique information as well as for analysis and forecasting models required for the aforementioned goals.
In addition, the division is responsible for the Publications Unit, which publishes the directives of the Accountant General, within the framework of the Finance and Economy Bylaws, as well as signing authorizations in accordance with the State Assets Law and the banks’ signing authorizations.
Duties:
- On a regular basis, the division plans, forecasts, oversees compliance, tracks, and supervises implementation of the national budget. This is done on a daily and monthly timetable. The division tracks the level of government expenses, revenues and deficits, as well as examines and supervises the administration of the state’s cash reserves and funds requisite to finance the deficit.
- The division produces monthly and annual forecasts of expenditure, revenues, and deficits using statistical models.
- The division provides information and conducts ongoing statistical analysis of all matters pertaining to the state’s budget and its implementation, real-time identification of trends with regards to the budget’s expenses and revenues, and prepares position papers on all matters pertaining to managing fiscal macroeconomic goals.
- The Macro and Budget Division develop and advance IT systems for all matters pertaining to the analysis and implementation of the national budget.
- The division participates in forums regarding methodology of national budgets, national accounting, and in projects that measure performance in these areas.
- The division publishes the directives of the Accountant General within the framework of the Finance and Economy Bylaws as well as signing authorizations in accordance with the State Assets Law and the banks’ signing authorizations.
