About
The Vehicles and Maintenance Services Department is responsible for carrying out Ministry policy in all matters pertaining to motor vehicle and operating combined systems for reducing technical failures causing traffic accidents in the State of Israel. Within this framework, the Department is responsible for the following areas: mechanical construction equipment, imports, standards, manufacturing, trading and importing transportation products, certified imports authority, technical field and maintenance services.
The areas of responsibility and authority are defined in the Transportation Regulation and in various legislation.

Unit Duties
- Vehicle fitness, imports and manufacture, tracking the development of vehicle technology around the world and adopting international standards as mandatory standards for importing vehicles to Israel, on safety, environmental and other subjects.
- Ensuring proper maintenance systems and professional supervision of garages.
- Supervising imports, ensuring quality levels of imports, manufacturing and trading transportation products.
- Periodic vehicle licensing inspections, professional supervision of licensing institutions, seasonal operations (for testing vehicle fitness).
- Certifying professional managers,. auto appraisers and auto testers, training and professional supervision of their work.
- Importing, exporting, recording and controlling mechanical construction equipment.
- Ensuring an array of auto parts and transportation products.
