Coordination, planning and supervision

The department is responsible for the strategic planning and work plans of the Ministry, promoting initiatives and technological projects, as well as serving as the executive branch of the Ministry in project funding, researches, scholarships and information centers. The department handles approximately 1,400 research proposals, scholarship applications, information centers and special projects each year. The department is responsible for approximately 800 agreements and commitments for active projects in various new and ongoing programs. The department maintains direct and ongoing contact with research institutions and the researchers themselves.

The department consists of three divisions:

The Division for Strategic Planning and Work Plans - responsible for preparing an office work plan, collaborating with other government ministries, setting result measurements, including follow up and monitoring processes.

The Division for Budgeting and Management of the Research Fund - responsible for operating the funding mechanism of projects, researches, scholarships and information centers, including: publishing calls for proposals, receiving research suggestions, opening of the proposals and checking the prerequisite conditions, and going through assessment and judgement after which the management of the fund makes its decisions. 

After the decision has been made, the division prepares the necessary contracts, delivers payments in accordance with the progress of each project, obtains scientific and financial reports, including follow-up proposals and handles intellectual property. The division is responsible for the projects, research, scholarships and information centers databases. Each year the division assembles an annual progress report with the research activity of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The Division for Projects and Regulation – responsible for promotion of technological projects and initiatives, including the advancement of industrial-academic relations, the planning of international conferences, the promotion of national priorities and more.
