Digital Technologies and Information Division
About
The Digital Technologies and Information Division is a Ministry coordinating HQ department.
The department consists of the following units:
- Operations and Communications Division
- Cyber and Information Security Division
- Various Applications Division
- Information and Innovation Unit
- Building, managing, maintaining and providing the national transportation databases: on subjects of vehicles and drivers to those authorized to receive them: Ministry bodies and outside bodies (IDF, Police, banks, Social Security, the courts, the National Institute for Driver Training and more) in a reliable and accessible manner, while securing records and providing information security for systems.
- Developing, managing and maintaining information and communications systems (teleprocessing) infrastructure for Ministry units, and providing technical support for users.
- Central computer maintenance.
- Providing automation and IT services to Ministry management and departments.
- Digitization of information and business processes for Ministry units, business entities and the general public.
- Advancing digital innovation to improve service for the public, for businesses and advancing safety in all fields of transportation.
Unit Duties
The department is currently developing multiple applications for Ministry units as a whole (lateral projects) and for various administrative branches, each according to their areas of responsibility.
- Improving service, information security and maintaining the ministry’s main computer systems:
- Converting the mainframe for the move to cloud infrastructure services.
- Improving information security and securing Standard 27001 certification for the Ministry.
- Adding data storage space (for new systems being developed and upgraded).
- Upgrading infrastructure software.
- Upgrading the information security and backup array.
- Key projects:
- Cem project for managing customer relations that realizes the Ministry's service policy.
- Expanding public digital services and making databases available to the public.
- Establishing a system for managing licensing institutions, tester mobility and cargo array.
- Building infrastructure for managing and operating digital tachographs for trucks and public vehicles.
- Upgrading Authority systems for civil aviation.
- Building a system for managing real-time data in public transportation.
- Managing geographical information of infrastructure projects.
