The Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research (IOLR)
The Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research (IOLR) is a governmental, non-profit corporation affiliated with the Earth Sciences Research Administration, and charged with the mission of generating knowledge for the sustainable use and protection of Israel's marine, coastal and freshwater resources. IOLR conducts scientific research in the fields of oceanography, limnology, mariculture and marine biotechnology.
Oil and Gas Exploration
The Ministry of National Infrastructures encourages oil and gas exploration by providing geological and geophysical data obtained from both previous exploration surveys and government research. This section provides comprehensive information on oil and gas production in Israel, companies active in Israel, maps and relevant laws.
Mines and Quarries
The Ministry of National Infrastructures supervises mining and quarrying in Israel, in order to ensure the availability of resources. The Ministry examines proposals for mining projects and is responsible for granting mining and quarrying licenses and mineral exploration permits.
Geological Survey of Israel (GSI)
The Geological Survey of Israel is a state-run research institution that advises the government regarding earth sciences and acts as a support unit of the Earth Science Administration of the Ministry of National Infrastructures. Its task is to ensure long-lasting development through the intelligent use of natural resources in Israel, such as sources of energy and water, and by evaluation of environmental risks, such as earthquakes and pollution of water sources.
The Earth Science Research Administration
The Administration is responsible for establishing and maintaining national databases in the field of earth sciences, including oceanography and limnology. The Administration carries out research and mapping activities, and develops research and monitoring technologies.
The Geophysical Institute of Israel (GII)
Geophysical Institute of Israel (GII) is a state-owned company specializing in geophysical surveys for oil exploration, water development and site investigation, both locally and abroad. The GII, operating within the framework of the Earth Science Research Administration, has wide-ranging expertise in seismic surveys and processing, and it offers its services to companies in the Middle East and the Mediterranean.
