Survey of the Israeli Diaspora 2009
Last Modified at:05-Oct-2009
Survey of the Israeli Diaspora 2009 The online survey was designed as part of Israel's ongoing efforts to improve its relations with Israelis residing long-term in the Diaspora.

The new survey is a joint initiative by the Ministry of Immigrant Absorption, the Office of the Prime Minister, the Jewish Agency and the Avraham Herman Institute of Contemporary Jewry of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Its goal is to arrive at a policy which will strengthen the ties between the State of Israel and its citizens living abroad, and open paths of communication and cooperation.

The short anonymous questionnaire contains questions regarding demographic and social characteristics, the characteristics of the migration, and Jewish and Israeli Identification. Only one person from each household should fill out the form.

The Ministry of Immigrant Absorption's Research Division conducts researches in diverse topics, focusing mainly on new immigrants, their absorption processes and unique needs, in order to help the Ministry formulate relevant policies for the immigrant population. Other Target Audiences of This Research Knowledge may be Absorption employees in various systems such as in the local authorities, agencies, organizations and associations; other employees who, within the confines of their job, come into contact with the immigrants; Students, researchers and academicians who are involved in this area.

The Avraham Harman Institute of Contemporary Jewry, a division of the Faculty of Humanities at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, is characterized by a multidisciplinary approach to research and teaching. Among its faculty are historians, demographers, political scientists, sociologists, and scholars specializing in Jewish literature, culture, art, and education. This multiplicity of perspectives allows for a deeper understanding of the problems under investigation and prompts the emergence of new and interesting research questions.
